Investment Management Centered on Your Objectives

Your portfolio should reflect more than a generic risk questionnaire. Kelly Investment Management develops and manages personalized investment strategies based on your objectives, time horizon, income needs, tax considerations, and risk tolerance.

Designed Around Your Goals

Portfolio construction and asset allocation are aligned with your objectives, time horizon, income needs, liquidity requirements, and tolerance for market risk.

Coordinated Across Your Accounts

Investment decisions consider retirement accounts, taxable accounts, cash reserves, taxes, investment costs, and concentrated positions as parts of one coordinated portfolio.

Managed as Circumstances Change

Your portfolio is continually monitored, rebalanced, and adjusted as markets, financial conditions, and your personal circumstances evolve.

Portfolio management should be guided by a clear framework rather than emotion or short-term predictions. Kelly Investment Management uses a long-term, asset-allocation-driven approach built around purposeful diversification, disciplined rebalancing, risk-adjusted portfolio construction, and informed flexibility as markets change.

A Disciplined Investment Philosophy

Managing a Portfolio Through Retirement

Retirement changes the purpose of a portfolio. Investment decisions must account for withdrawals, market volatility, cash reserves, taxes, required distributions, Social Security, pensions, and longevity.

Portfolio Withdrawals

Developing a sustainable approach to generating retirement income while addressing sequence-of-returns risk.

Cash and Fixed Income

Maintaining appropriate reserves and fixed-income investments for near-term spending and portfolio stability.

Tax-Aware Coordination

Coordinating withdrawals across taxable, tax-deferred, and tax-free accounts while accounting for required minimum distributions.

Retirement Income Sources

Integrating portfolio withdrawals with Social Security, pensions, and other sources of retirement income.

Ongoing Sustainability

Monitoring spending, portfolio performance, allocation, and changing income needs throughout retirement.

Before becoming a financial advisor, Tom built his foundation in a fast-paced, high-stakes trading environment.

After earning his master’s degree in Finance, Tom joined one of the nation’s three largest retail brokerage firms, where he served clients ranked among the firm’s top 1% by assets. He executed stock and options transactions throughout the trading day, with most orders involving multi-million dollar positions and some reaching tens of millions of dollars or more.

The work demanded speed, efficiency, sound judgment, and absolute attention to detail. Markets moved quickly, clients had substantial capital at risk, and even a minor error could carry significant consequences.

This experience distinguishes Tom from many traditional financial advisors. He began his career directly in the markets, developing hands-on knowledge of stocks, options, order execution, margin, cash management, market mechanics, and portfolio risk.

Tom later expanded his expertise into comprehensive financial planning and independent portfolio management. Today, as founder and portfolio manager of Kelly Investment Management, he combines real-world trading experience with a broader understanding of retirement, taxes, cash flow, and long-term financial security.
